One of my top 5 fave authors is Charles Dickens. I used to read a Dickens novel every summer.  I read them all, and a few I read twice.  But I haven’t done that for awhile. I love Dickens for the connecting plots and the eccentric characters and for the social commentary.  David Copperfield is one of my top 5 fave books.  I’ve read it several times.  Uriah Heep, the bad guy, is one of the best villains in literature.  He’s an unctuous guy who always brags about how very very ‘umble he is.  But he’s not really ‘umble at all.  He’s just a bad guy all around who gets his comeuppance in the end.  Dickens pulled out all the stops with this book.  It was his favorite too.

U-ukulele. I remember the ukulele player from Lotus that was there that one year. Amazing performer. Makes me look forward to Lotus this fall! We have a ukulele here that Kevin tried to teach me a song on once, but THAT never worked.

I love Dickens and David Copperfield is definitely my favorite of all Dickens. Uriah Heep is the creepiest. Have you seen the Masterpiece theater series of David Copperfield? The characters are pretty awesome. I am freaking out because I'm only on L in the July challenge! I have no time!!! Must try to catch up again..we are running out of July.

Don't panic, Jules. You can do a bunch of one liners to catch up. I've done that before. Your trip looked awesome.

Nance, I remember that ukulele guy super well, except for his name. i think he was probably the best ukulele player in the world.

JW - LIKE back.

I want to read David Copperfield. I love Tale of Two Cities, but I've never read this one. Sounds delightful!

I loved To2C when we read it in high school. I really, really liked it. The whole setting and the guillotine and the whole deal.

Another Dickens I loved was Barnaby Rudge. I read that in college. It's really think and I got totally immersed and obsessed.

LIKE from me too.

I'm commenting again, thus delaying my own blogging and trying to catch up to your V level. ;) I love Dickens so much...jdoc, you should read David Copperfield post haste! It's one of the best books ever. I'm wondering if I should start a book discussion group, either online or locally? I love to discuss books.
