The Book

Over on facebook I'm surveying "friends" about how much they read in a year. 20 "friends" have responded with answers ranging from 2 to 200. (One "friend" ( yes, you know who you are) tried to subvert the survey with the always unhelpful "How the hell should I know" comment). But, all that aside, it's come to my attention, through my survey data, that there are some heavy duty readers out there and even in my hey day I don't think I matched their #'s. But I'm going to try to beef up my reading, even though another "friend" told me my idea to set a reading goal was "dumb." Taking that comment with a grain of salt, I'm going to be setting goals anyway (some time soon) and the reason I'll be having a goal setting conference with myself in the future is that I have been reading not very much this past year. I've read a couple of great novels because Good Pal Menosky told me to, but mostly I've been starting books and then tossing them aside. And this troubles me. I want to have a reader identity.
Right now I'm reading The Elegance of the Hedgehog. I'm on p. 44 and it's good so far. My goal is to actually finish it.

I would like to be in a virtual book club with you and the people who I've met by commenting on this blog. Maybe I should also read the hedgehog book?

Yes, I absolutely want to do this. Please get the book asap. What kind of dates are we talking about here? book a month?

This is really going to help me with my reader identity.

I saw the movie Everyone Is Fine last night. I actually cried. I need to see Twilight before I see New Moon.
I could be in on the hedgehog book. How the hell should I know, though.

Let the Cyberbookblog begin. Who else is in for the hedgehog book?
There's no reason NOT to do this.

Hey I read your blog but get confounded by signing in or something. I want to play book survey, I read 3-5 books a month, including the unabriged books on tape/CD in the car so lets so 35-45 a year (yikes I never did the math before, it seems like a lot)

I'm so glad to see you commenting here, young lady.

I was going to recommend that the not virtual book club I belong to read the Hedgehog book but it seemed too normal/female/bookclubish so picked Ubik by Phillip K Dick, maybe that was a mistake but I loved it anyway.
