The Open Mind

This week our whole school is working on Open Mindedness.  It's one of the traits we want to develop as we become an International School.

I need to work on this one.  I like my own ideas.  I like how I do things.  Jack Sprat could eat no fat, in other words.

Jack Sprat could eat no fat.
His wife could eat no lean.
So in betwixt the two of them
They licked the platter clean.

I guess the moral of this story is that two complementary closed minds can get stuff done.  That doesn't ring true to me, but there must be something to it. Or else how could this nursery rhyme had endured through the sands of time? I need to find someone who disagrees with everything I do for a collaborative project.  I'm looking for a lean loving wife so to speak, to help me clean the platter.  I'm not going to lie.  This feels like a daunting task I've just given myself. Why do I always have to strive for excellence?  Why?

I'm imagining trying to complete a collaborative project with someone with whom I disagree on everything. Finding the person and completing the project both seem like really hard things to do.

You strive for excellence 'cuz you're excellent.

I think this little jingle has last through the years because of the excellent rhyming.
