The Podcast

Well, I'll tell you what? Some literacy partners asked me to give them a little run through on how to make a podcast using garage band. So I made a podcast for our school about literacy at our school. I sound like a total dork in this podcast, but I'm willing to make sacrifices for literacy. That's how important literacy is to me. You can hear me sound like a dork right here if you want to.

Mac and I really dug the music on this great podcast. He kept saying, "I see, I see!!" I don't think he quite understood the concept of a podcast.

I LOVED the whole thing! You were great. You actually got better and better as the podcast went on, and ended with a great flourish. Good choice on the music too.
Kudos!!!

I'm putting this Mary Oliver poem in my pocket:

Why I Wake Early

Hello, sun in my face.
Hello, you who make the morning
and spread it over the fields
and into the faces of the tulips
and the nodding morning glories,
and into the windows of, even, the
miserable and the crotchety —

Best preacher that ever was,
dear star, that just happens
to be where you are in the universe
to keep us from ever-darkness,
to ease us with warm touching,
to hold us in the great hands of light —
good morning, good morning, good morning.

Watch, now, how I start the day
in happiness, in kindness.

OH thank you so much, both of you! I was starting to think twice about sending it out. Because of the dorkiness. I am getting the school jazzed about poem in your pocket day, so that's what's great.

D, I love that poem.

FYI: Enthusiasm, and a little "acting out," does not equate with "dorkiness." If you think the podcast evinced dorkiness, I say, "More, more! Give us more!"

Pt well taken, D. Bringing on the dork squad!

I totally agree with D on the dorkiness. I now record tokbox vids for my sophs each week and post them on Moodle.

That took a little... something. But, I'm really glad I took the leap.

The podcast was really inspiring. I'll probably tweet it on my school account, @edinaenglish

Thanks! I looked at your link and took it to the principal... Next step is our literacy coach. Even though it's a week away, we might be able to pull this off for next Thursday.

D, I shared the second link with the upper graders. V. cool. I may have to do this with some of my books.
