The Exits
Let's see. What happened today? Nothing too much, except that my first born child got on an airplane and exited the state. She'll be back in 17 days, so I guess I should just stop whining. Still, this exiting the state thing really sticks in my craw. And #1 Son has applied for some out of state colleges, verily, this very day. Even though I begged him not to do so. I don't believe in pressuring the children, EXCEPT when it comes to exiting the state. That kind of behavior really goes too far.

You will survive. It may be difficult, but the behavior is part of "growing up" and "spreading wings".
Today was a pumpkin kind of a day at our house. Baked pumpkin, made pumpkin soup and finished off with pumpkin chocolate chip cookies for the girl that exited to campus today. Ros will be home in a blink and just think of all the stress-oops, I mean calm till Christmas that you will have till she returns! We need to talk!

I don't understand why those kids insist on leaving. Didn't they see that awesome university right in their back yards???
I know what you mean about pressuring. It's hard to not do it. I feel like you've held off until the right time. If you didn't pressure about the exiting, they'd probably think you wanted them to go.
Sam cried when I exited the house today. Choosing a college out-of-state will probably be his way of getting back at me. I do not look forward to it.
At least Q's done you the favor of *considering* that aforementioned awesome university right in our backyard. I kind of wish I had, because then I could get Mother Bears for lunch instead of this absurdly fat carrot and a hunk of stale co-op bread.
Dear 20 something. Mother Bears for lunch in 2 weeks???? I'm buying!
I look forward to reading your blog each day. Thank you for adding a little sunshine to my day! :)

Sarah Murray! What a blast to see you here. Thanks for reading, dear!
Lately, my boss and I have been creating a list of "THE WORST." So far, we have Republicans, people who actively try to avoid the dinner bill until everyone else has paid (they end up paying less b/c other generous tippers over-pay, thinking it's going to the server - if that makes sense), and people who don't hold the door open for you when you're walking right behind them.
What I'm saying is, I think children exiting the state should be on the list of THE WORST.
Quinn. Must needs get in that UW application.... It is almost like in state, at least from our perspective
