The Potter

I give up trying to work in the basement and set up shop over at large chain bookstore. The place is incredibly noisy with whining kiddos (nap time, people!), and women planning birthday parties, and a guy reading about Italy whose sneezes startle everyone, causing us to shake our heads at one another in disbelief. Probably the most annoying noise has to do with the Potter #6. Every ten minutes or so, a customer breezes into the store as if arriving at a party and from across the store gleefully sings out to the cashier, “I’m here to pick up my Harry Potter book!” I’m glad they’re so excited, but I feel sorry for the cashiers, who seem pottered out.

Back at home, teen daughter reads Harry quietly. And #1 son gets into the Potter spirit by booting up a quidditch match on the computer.

Mah Frand,
Is that a posed shot or has R really read like two thirds of the thing already? Geez. I have yet to even see the movie.

She's zipping through it and liking it. You haven't seen any of the Potter movies? You may have to have a Pottermoviemarathon soon. I read the first one to Q and R when Q was in kindergarten. Then Pedro took over. He's reading the Dylan book to Q right now while they wait for R to finish. We'll probably see Chocolate Factory down in Georgia. Babbling now, so I'll sign off, mah frand...

R has read much more of the book than I, but with paper reading and writing not so much of a desire, I think I'll finish HP6 by this time next week. Loving it so far.

I might have to break down and read this one. Is it possible to understand if one has not read 1 thru 5? I tried to read the first one but didn't like it. Haven't seen any of the movies. Seriously...is it a good read, or must one just be a big fan of the characters or something?

I finished last night. Was going along at a 40 page-per-night clip, then hit page 300 last night and didn't stop until the end. 3:00am.

NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PLOT, but I am having serious book-finishing remorse now. The next one's two years away.

jdoc, done yet?
Julie, I think you should go for it. I've only read hp1. not a series reader. but r speaks highly of this one.
Hi Pronto,R says she also has book finishing remorse. She keeps popping it open to re-read bits.
i've just started Kite Runner. Pretty good.
