The Cheering

To cheer myself after grueling revisions, I headed out for a manicure with teen daughter this afternoon. I exchanged my original selection (on the left) for a pale yellow called "A Little Less Conversation" because it fit my mood. I watched lacrosse on tv during the application of less conversation to my nails. I was surprised they didn't have Oprah on. The magazines were odd too. U.S. News and World Report and Business World and Redbook, pictured here. Maybe this salon is a front for something. But for what? Posted by Picasa

Good color choice. What did R get?

When I got my toes done for Erin's wedding, I had Aphrodite's Pink Nightie. My fingers were Cony Island Cotton Candy.

Love these nailpolish names!

And the Redbook girl, as Dan would say, she looks like she keeps in shape....

Miss you, lh!!

Hmmm. Didn't realize that picture would come up when commenting. I may have to rethink it.

You sound like you have a lot of time on your hands. That was a very interesting entry about nail polish. I don't know how you go through a day with all the decisions you have to make. I won't get on your case too much, you're in education, probably a teach, and have the summer off so good for you. My jealousy is shining through more than anything. If there was a color for that feeling, maybe green for envy, I would paint it on my nails. Actually, probably not.

i like sock monkey picture, jdoc. I'll ask ros the name when she gets back. she's out and about somewhere. it's a lovely shiny pink.
kc, like you, i love the names. and that's why i have this weird yellow color that resembles my skin so it doesn't seem like i have nails at all.
welcome easydoesit. I don't really have time, because i'm supposed to be writing a dissertation, but i get distracted fairly regularly. thanks for not getting on my case "too much". Really appreciate that, sir.

Mine was called Rio. Actually, I knew someone named Rio, kind of, he went to Marcy and used to wear a shirt that said "Feminist chicks dig me." So, I guess that's a pretty good reason to choose a color, but like, whatev, seriously.

My favorie nailpolish name is "not really a waitress." But "Aphrodite's Pink Nightie" is now my second-favorite name.

This may inspire me to do my toes tonight.

the names are hilarious. i wonder if they've always been creative about nailpolish nomenclature. an inquiry project?
need a ped. badly. maybe i'll inquire about the history behind the polish.

I'd like to be able to comment on polish (I really love the names) but I am missing some gene for desiring normal feminine things--like nails, purses, nice hair cuts...you name it, I don't do it. It's not a personal mission not to do these things, it's just...not me, I guess. A friend talked me into getting fake acrylic nails for my 25 high school reunion, and a nice paint job on them in a purplish hue. I couldn't get the damned things off fast enough. They looked good, I guess, but ICK!
