The Boston Red Sox

I was born in Boston.  So were my parents and their parents. I moved out of Boston when I was 4, but I used to go back frequently when I was a kid to visit.  Never went to Fenway though, but I did ride a swan boat in Boston Commons.  In some ways, I felt bad when the Mets beat the Red Sox in 1986, but mostly I was overjoyed.  I know it was hard on some of my kin, but at that point, I was solidly in Mets Mania.  More on that later.  I'm glad Boston has beaten the curse of the Bambino twice now.  They seem like a good team with spirit and verve.  I felt sad for Buckner when the ball went through his legs.  He's still a good guy.  Even if he had fielded cleanly, they would have tied the game, and the Mets would probably have won anyway.  (Husbandman asked that I include that last bit, since we've always had sympathy for Bill.  And Husbandman liked him when he was a Dodger).  So, Boston's my home town and it's a good place.

If you're from Boston, it must be a good place. Happy Spring Break. Mine starts the 31st.

Boston rocks. I lived in Charlestown, but I can't talk about it. Because, you know, the Code.

Yay, Boston! We just moved here 5 months ago, and we love it (well, here-ISH: we're in Scituate but my husband works in Boston). It is just a lovely place! To me, perfection is a place with old houses near an ocean where it snows in the winter (well, not THIS winter, but generally)...Boston has it all.

I too like Boston. I visited once with Pronto, and I enjoyed the raw bar. Dan had an experience with a bad clam, however. An experience that makes you feel happy you're a vegetarian.

I want to go to a game in Fenway. They weren't in town last summer when we were in Boston and I was so bummed.

Fenway Park was cool to visit and all, but in reality it's a real dump. I mean, how couldn't it be? The place is a hundred years old and back when it was built, women didn't go to games and everyone smoked and chewed tobacco in the stands. The cement is permanently stained and worn down there. It's the craziest thing. Also, the bathrooms at Fenway are quite possibly the grossest bathrooms ever. Look at this http://cdn.bleacherreport.com/images_root/image_pictures/0304/2928/urinal_crop_340x234.jpg

Oh dear, that's a really horrible picture. Come on Boston, you can do better. Geez. Tear Fenway down. Get some decent restrooms.
