The Cleveland Indians

This is what I don't get.  Why do the Cleveland Indians still have that stupid Chief Wahoo graphic on their hats?  Please, Cleveland, stop this.  It's ugly and rude.  I've read a few articles tonight about the controversy around Cleveland's Chief Wahoo.  Here's another thing about Cleveland that's good though.  The Cleveland Clinic.  People sometimes don't realize that we have some great health care facilities out here in the heartland.  Well guess what, we do.  We had to consult with a doctor at the Cleveland Clinic once, and the guy was pretty darned amazing.  So, in short.  Dump the mascot.  Support the clinic.  In a word. Cleveland.

It should come as no surprise that I am in complete agreement about the mascot. Dump it!

Me too! What's with that backward, offensive graphic?!? Come on, Cleveland!

But yay for healthcare.

I've often thought the same thing. I'm not personally offended by the whole native american mascot thing, but if it's offensive to actual native americans, then I think we should respect that.

When the Super Bowl was in Minnesota, it was the Giants versus the Redskins (how it that name still allowed?). Naturally, there was a protest because of the name Redskins. I had sympathy, but then noticed that one of the protesters on stage was wearing a Blackhawks jacket. I think he didn't really get the cause.
Aw man I accidentally blogged the same thing as you, kind of.

I am enjoying the blog challenge, but it is making me realize how ignorant I am about baseball teams, in general. I did watch baseball as a kid--the St Louis Cardinals and the Cincinnati Red Sox--and we played epic wiffleball games every saturday morning for most of my childhood, but I have lost track of this sport. You are doing a fabulous job with all of your baseball team knowledge.

We never rooted for the Indians because they were our (Detroit Tigers) biggest rivals, but we had to give credit to their great pitcher, Bob Feller.
Spent a lot of time in Cleveland. Lots of relatives there. parents married there.
And don't forget that Cleveland has the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Julie, I played a lot of kickball. It seemed so much more manageable. Large ball, foot.

D, I've wanted to visit the Hall of Fame in Cleveland. I'm trying to remember if I've ever been to Cleveland. I don't think I have.

All others, greetings on this festive Friday.

Chief Wahoo will be featured in one of my future posts on racist mascots. What is this, 1842?

My brother-in-law is in med school and was talking about how great the Cleveland Clinic is ... I read up on it. It's right up there with the Mayo Clinic and Johns Hopkins.
