The Fork

Okay, stick a fork in it.  I'm pulling out of my funk.  We're all doing the best we can.  And life goes on, long after the thrill of living is gone.  I'm not really trying to say that there are still no thrills to be had.  Far to the contrary.  I'm just saying that life goes on and you've got to lean in to it.  Maybe "daily thrills" would be a good theme that would lead to blog fame.  I've got to make every second count.  This much I know.  My thrill for the day:  I had this great grilled cheese sandwich from that little place called Soup's On.  And I also had potato soup.  SUPER good.

yesterday I sought out thrills:

I was writing with a pen called a "pentel WOW!"

Wore new pants and SHIRT!

Saw a lot of Vera Bradley bags at the big district wide meeting. Super colorful with swirly patterns.

Wore new "boot socks."

Meeting presenter used something called "timer tools." V. colorful and cool. Also potentially helpful.

My friend JG sends 35$ each month to a kid in Ghana!

Presenter showed a color enhanced photo of the HUMAN BRAIN!

Presenter quote: "Life's full of second chances." i find this reassuring.

Thought about Annette Bening's hair from Golden Globes. Extremely thrilling.

Several teachers thanked me for the work I do. Wow! Amazing what a small thing like a thank you can do to perk up a body.

All in all, a thrilling day.

I always think of thrills as wonderful, but energy sapping, events. Don't know if I could last through so many.
My favorite among yours: "Several teachers thanked me..."
A well-deserved thrill.

I'm really impressed by your positivity. I like the concept of everyday thrills.

I better figure out my word of the year? Is that a happiness goal this week? I asked someone for a favor today, so that was good.

Yeah, that was the invitation today, but here's the thing. Not sure I picked a good word because it was super hard to look for anything thrilling today and I really looked.

Here's another thing. It was hard to ask anyone for a favor today. That's teaching me something about myself. I did ask my friend Kathy to get me a water bottle tho. She was standing and closer to the water bottle table. I was sitting in a really crowded space at our district Title meeting. So not a big favor, but that's something I could work on.

What are you making? I made a vegan choc.chip cranberry cookie recipe this morning, watched a foreign film, and avoided work. Eliot and I just did some shoveling and snow blowing-it was thrilling. Do you think we will be in school tomorrow???

Hey lady, I'm making cheesy rigatoni in the slow cooker.
Today I've done some treadmilling, some laundry, and some literacy partner reading. It's been fairly thrilling as well.

Tomorrow? I can barely think that far ahead. What do you think???

I'm off anyway for a drs appt, but I am thinking no school. OR, at least a delay. It's pretty heavy out there. Can you believe this winter and all these snow days?! I remember when they NEVER used to call snow days. Are they wimps???

:) I am so in to snow days. I find them completely thrilling. I would be a great housewife. I've cleaned and cooked and now I'm reading by the fire.

BTW, Even tho I didn't feel my day was super thrilling yesterday, I did notice in my notebook today that there were a few thrills along the way during a LONG Title I meeting day.

Here they are:

A woman at my table was wearing 2 different scarves. A nice look.

And one of the 2 men there had a great black and white swirly tie.

My pen had something called "Z Grip."

A woman at the meeting raises backyard chickens. The newspaper had an article about her! She was wearing a cool sweater with one big button.

The presenters started the day by reading a fun book called The Cow Loves Cookies. Then they put a beautiful platter of home made cookies in the center of each table.

I'm thinking snow day for tomorrow as well. Glad the rigatoni was resounding! What will you make tomorrow? I might have to stop by or meet you (walk at the Y tomorrow?) if we are cancelled.
