A Great Accomplishment

I finished a book today. Not the Bryson. Still have 40 pages of that one, but I've been reading it so long I think it will always be a part of my life. I'm on bipeds right now.
The book I finished is Treglown's bio of Roald Dahl. Treglown doesn't like Dahl very much and he has his reasons. But as miserable as the old guy was, I had a soft spot for him after reading this:

(In 1964) The New York Times was sufficiently impressed (with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) to ask Dahl for an article on writing for children, and he dashed off a diabtribe claiming that (M)ost juvenile fiction was so bad that after reading it to a child, all you could do was 'apologize...and turn out the light and slink downstairs to wash away the memory with a glass of whisky and water.' (P. 147).

Please explain the picture link attached to the word "children" of the 2 ladies!!!!! Or is this up to my own interpretation?

Congrats on finishing your book! I'm such a slow reader that I can't get any other reading accomplished besides class reading. So I guess my --Vaginas: A woman's handbook-- that just came in the mail will have to wait!!!

The gal on the left is Sophie Dahl, Roald's granddaughter. Roald used her name in the BFG. She's a model, or was, I haven't found anything on her too recently. She was known as a fuller sized model, and the website i found compared models of today with women's fotos from the past.
Vaginas: a woman's handbook...I'll have to google that...

I've been really slowing down on the reading, but this Dahl bio was really a quickie...

I got the title wrong. It is Vaginas: An Owner's Manual by Dr. Carol Livoti and Elizabeth Topp (her daughter). Elizabeth was on FM 107.1 Lori and Julia Show (Love it!!!), and she was so entertaining she convinced me to buy it. Too embarassed to ask for help in finding the title at Bound to Be Read, I ordered it the safe way...online!!!

Interesting comparison of pictures. I wander how the Non-fuller sized models compare with women of the past. Is there even any comparison?

Which reminds me, I saw another reality show today on E! The Gastineau Girls. Extravangantly rich Ex-model mom looking for a new career. Beautiful, but spoiled and unmotivated, daughter trying to be a model. All along man dressed as a doorman interjects little comments about their interactions throughout the show. Like most reality shows, I couldn't get myself to turn the channel.

I went to Rosie O'Donnell's blog today (formerly rosie, i think it's called) and she had a post about Amazing Race. It's funny how these shows pull you in. I think the Roald Dahl biography I just finished was a bit like a reality show because the biographer was quick to point out all of Dahl's warts and weaknesses. I'm sure there is no comparison between modern day models and gals of yesteryear...
Speaking of which, did you ever watch Project Runway. a great show.

Was that the one that Heidi Glum hosted? If so, I saw an episode toward the end when they were down to the final three. All the candidates were together talking about everything that had occurred and questioning each other. One girl got really mad and left. I never did find out who the winner was. Did you?

Yeah. It was JAY. His designs were terrific, interesting and odd. I wonder if he'll make it big.
