The Cuff

I had to buy a blood pressure cuff because my blood pressure, after an entire lifetime of being low, has decided to be high now. (I hate you for this, blood pressure).  I have to take several readings and then go back to the doctor in a few weeks.  Every time I take my blood pressure it's high.  Sometimes it's v. high.  And then I feel like crying and I worry about having a stroke.  I'm having a ton of fear and anxiety about taking my blood pressure.  I hate to do it and I get short of breath right before I put the cuff on my arm.  I'm supposed to take my blood pressure today, but I don't think I can face it.  My blood pressure can go to hell as far as I'm concerned.

Oh, I am hating this situation of yours! It seems like having high blood pressure can really give someone high blood pressure. Not fair. Not fair at all.

Good luck with the cuff and take care of yourself, friend.

I am having the same situation. What the hell? Mine has always been really low. Now, sometimes it will read normal and other times it will read high. I think if you are getting stressed over taking your blood pressure, it is going to read high, so how does that help? I'm hating this middle-aged craziness. You turn fifty and they hit you with a colonoscopy and then tell you you have high blood pressure--I'm just not liking any of this monkey business.

This seems strange. I've always had low blood pressure. Who knew it could change?

Take care

Jules, your news is music to my ears, because you're the healthiest person I know. So, obviously, this can not be my fault.

On a more general note....Just took it after a calm period of typing a presentation. HIGH AGAIN!

This is why I wanted Teen Daughter and #1son to go into medicine. I'm going to need intensive support in the upcoming years.

I don't like this at all. Taking your own blood pressure seems like it would be even more stressful than if someone else is doing it.

This really means that you should only do activities that give you pleasure 24/7. Not pleasurable -- sorry, no can do. Jigsaw puzzles are good.

love you, dear.

We should start yoga, like you suggested months ago.

I obviously need something. And yoga does sound
like the answer right now. But I need super easy yoga. Where can we find that?

I agree with Cynthia that the taking of your own blood pressure is a major stressor!!

My mom had high blood pressure all of her life that I remember. Now she takes a little medicine and it's fine.
