The List
Yesterday, we had a meeting after school. As we entered the room, we were handed a sheet of paper with over 40 proposed cuts to our schools. #1 on the list: Eliminate elementary Librarians. Further down on the list: Drain the pools at the high schools. I felt so disgusted and angry that these two proposals could be on the same list.
I'm upset about the crisis we are in, but right now I'm in shock that this information was presented to us in such a disrespectful way.
The publication of this list is disrespectful to our librarians and to all of us who have devoted our lives to public education. Our professional librarians and the water in the pools. Come on. Think it through.

I sent it to the Board members, but it probably wouldn't hurt for others to send it too.
I've emailed it to Judy. You guys might want to bring printed copies to the meeting on Tuesday.
Today's HT listed everything on the front page. I presume by "media specialists" they meant librarians, but it's their sneaky way of trying to fool the public.
