"What about our austerity program?" asked Husbandman.
"We're on an austerity program because of your bad choices," I retorted. "And besides, the austerity program doesn't apply to National Holidays."
"Are there any spa services for less than twenty dollars?" Husbandman asked.
Husbandman needs to focus. He's not listening to reason right now.

And what was on his Valentine's Day list?
Perhaps you should ask for something more tangible - like a Kindle.
Shirley's Little Critter is cute. Does he have a name?

We never got to his list. As you can probably tell, communication broke down a bit. We'll revisit this topic later. Kindle would be perfect. I'll introduce that idea asap.
I love Shirley's cat. I haven't named him yet. Maybe Arturo.
Arturo! Cool!
You "need" a Kindle. It fits the austerity program. It will quickly pay for itself because your books will all be cheaper.

Again, good point.
I've felt like it's a necessity for some time now.
The kids will think you're so cool when you read a chapter book to them, using your Kindle.

Husbandman just read these comments. He says you don't really understand the austerity program. He also mumbled something about "bad influence."
:)
I did not vote on this trail of austerity. Let's have a revote.

Well - remind him that once you have your Kindle, others in the family can get them (including the man himself), be on the same account, and then everyone can download the same books and only pay for one copy - and that one at a substantial discount.
