The Surgeon

The oral surgeon was having a grand old time showing me all the nifty tricks he can do with his computer to assist him in a tooth implant. "See how cool this is? I can calibrate exactly how far to drill into your bone. We've got a good 11 to 13 millimeters right here. We're not going to hit nerves til 15 centimeters, down here. I drill a small hole and then I push this titanium screw right into it." After 5 minutes of excited rambling, he asked, "Are you okay?"
"Well, it all looks good. I'm maybe a little freaked out about the whole drilling into my bone thing."
He was quiet for a few seconds and then offered, "Maybe we should sedate you."
"Yes, let's do that."

Yeah, the scarf is finished! Looks fab! Where is Peter in this pic? Oral surgeon stories are not good for the blog. When in doubt, go with turtle facts.

In 11 days. That's when the drilling starts.

Go with the sedation. Can they start that early? Like NOW?

1. scarf - really wonderful, excellent job
2. pic - P needs to write a book and use this on the jacket sleeve, great pic
3. sedation - is there any question about this?
4. post drilling meds - yes, please, many... and often
5. experience - fill me in when i see you in a few weeks as i will be next in line for the drill... we could all take trips to galapagos for what these plastic teeth will cost... or we could go see the northern lights... but it must be done

Wonderful scarf for your debonair husband.

When I had oral surgery the o.s. described the sedation as feeling like you'd had a little too much of a fine wine.

So, there you go.

Party on and good luck, my friend.

Cynthia's surgeon had the right idea. Always describe what the sedation feels like, not what the drilling is like. For gawd's sake.
The countdown is on.

I was with Carolyn during her surgery, and that's exactly how she acted - as if she's had a bit too much fine wine. And it lasted for hours after we were home.
