The Summer

Husbandman and I are watching the 1st season of The Wire. It's pretty good, but slightly confusing. I should wear a wire around. It would add significance to all my conversations. If I told people, "I'm wearing a wire," they'd probably choose their words carefully.

SavvyMom may have already told you this - but when we started watching the Wire, we were told to give it about 6 episodes and then you will be hooked. It takes about that long to get to know all the characters and story lines. It's really good, but we don't have the heart to watch the last season because we're afraid of what will happen.

Also, you probably should watch with the subtitles on. That greatly increased my enjoyment, because as an extremely white woman from Minneapolis, I didn't not understand what the hell those big-city people were saying

I love that we have a summer series to watch. All HAIL NETFLIX!!!

Peter's totally hooked. I keep falling asleep before the end. But I'm still hooked in my own way.

Gotta keep the devil way down in the hole!

We have every season of The Wire on DVD. The first episode didn't catch me, but after a couple, I was a Wire fanatic. The season about the schools...maybe season 3 or 4, forget...OMG... heartrending. But the writing is superb all the way through. There is one season that didn't hold my attention quite as much--the one about the dock workers--but it's still all good. I want to start watching it all over from the beginning again.

Pronto and I agree about the school season - it's 4. It's so well-done, but so heartbreaking.

I called up my friend Tracy and made her tell me what happened in the last few episodes before I could bear to watch them.

But, really worth it.

I just requested Angels in America from Netflix because I read that yesterday for my drama class.

I agree with the comments about hanging in for a few episodes. After we got over the scenes not recommended for the faint-of-heart (like son Eli who kept walking in when young people were being shot in the face at close range), we watched the whole series.

We just finished Season 1. Sadly, I fell asleep before the very end, so I was feeling good about everything and then Husbandman told me, "No, in the last 5 minutes everything changed and now it's all bad again." SADNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Right now I'm watching the high quality Bachelorette. One guy got a tattoo to celebrate his love for the Bachelorette. He wants her to know that he can handle pain and that he's here for the right reasons.

Husbandman's not watching with me.
