The Circle

Discussion of Civil War On Sunday at Lit. Circle:

Peep #1: Clara Barton was strong. She was serious about all this.
Peep #2; Yeah, but my mom says a woman should marry a strong man.
Me: Well, I think women have to be strong too.
Peep #3: Yeah, so they can whup their kids.
Me: That's not what I'm talking about, bud.

General hilarity ensued, and it was hard to get back to the book after that.

this kind of stuff seems to just happen in lit circles. it used to happen with the sophs and the juniors, too; except then it was mostly about s-e-x.

Happened in my IU courses too. That's why I always had to use a specific form of Lit Circle for each event.
