The Pig

We're taking care of a guinea pig right now. I used to have one and I didn't like cutting its toenails. Every pet seems to have some odd drawback. I'm thinking of getting a guinea pig for a classroom pet and just ignoring the whole toenail clipping requirement. They're fairly cheerful creatures, pleasant and calm.

I have an aversion to almost all pets. A friend of mine had a hedgehog once that looked nice. It's name was Stella. Have you considered a hedgehog??

i might just get a fish.
i should never go into pet stores.
i buy tons of treats for every dog and cat i know and spend time thinking ...a zebra finch might just be what i need in this world...or maybe a parakeet. or some hamsters. I saw some attractive ferrets there too.
we don't have pets, but i like them conceptually.

That molerat makes the guinea pig look positively civilized, as if he might even buttle.

Buttle??
My dogs love their treats that you so generously buy them. They see Lee in the driveway and go absolutely crazy. I think that's from you walking them on a daily basis last summer and fall.

your pets are great. I love other people's pets. I like to act like their grandmother, and just give them tons of treats. the unconditional love that results is phenomenal.

Pets are sometimes a pain in the butt-le, and this is why we don't have a dog, because they are way more work than cats. But I love my kitty to pieces. Just some notes from my own, and friends', pet-keeping experiences: ferrets are cute but stinky and get into all kinds of trouble. Hamsters can be mean or sweet, depending, but they don't have a lot of personality. Same with mice. Having had both, we have our share of horror stories. Caged birds..I haven't had one, but I fear that I would get depressed about its being caged and want to let it out. I'm a little unsure about guinea pigs...I've heard pros and cons. Cats are good. Visiting other people's dogs is very good.

i used to have zebra finches and i loved them dearly, but i always had to take their eggs out of their nest and throw them away. that got sad. And one had to go to the vet all the time to have its beak shaved because it kept growing and wouldn't stop. The third time the vet shaved its beak, the bird died in his hand and he still charged me 6.75 for the beak work. I thought that was rude.
