The Suggestions

Posted by Picasa
Illegal Art carried around suggestion boxes last year and invited people on the street to put some in. Now the suggestions are in a book that has been ordered by me this very day, but some others were printed in Sunday’s NYT, as “Advice for 2006.” I liked "Wear a Bigger Heart on Your Sleeve" and "Dine with Strangers." I shared some of mine with the sixers, “Slog daily,” “Slow down, lighten up,” “Dissertate with your morning coffee,” “Read more fiction,” and “Avoid dogs.” They wrote their own suggestion signs in the computer lab, “Make a life for yourself,” "Try not to play with fire," "Love's always better" and “Chill or be chilled." A cool bulletin board will appear soon.

i get it dearheart. yes, i get it.
i would not mind, in fact i would be feeling a form of flattery. i ordered the book from amazon, and they tell me it won't come for awhile. don't they see i need it right away????
i also bought "fires in the bathroom." have you read that???

I will buy this book today too! Though my entire life has been centered around many of the suggestions listed here I am finding that as of late I am chilling less and wearing sleeveless garb. It's always good to return to what has worked for me for so long, thanks sister Lee for the gentle reminder.

hey sisterwoman, yes the "chill or be chilled" could definitely apply to my life as well. I talked to an eye specialist person about my eye twitching this weekend. (I was having champagne at her house) and she told me there's nothing I can do about it. She said, "It's stress, and once it starts, it could take years for it to go away." I found that reassuring somehow. Nothing for me to do. I like that.

JW, That one caused a big uproar when I wrote it on the overhead projector. Kids were screaming at me. But I asked, "What about the licking????" I told them I like the dogs I know, but I avoid all others. That seemed to calm them down. welcome home kiddo.
