The Swifts

Big ceremony at school today welcoming the swifts back to the new chimney. School board. Mayor. Audubon Society. We're hoping the swifts will roost in the new chimney that was built for them. The old chimney is capped because it's about to be torn down with the rest of our school. During the ceremony some swifts were flying overhead. But they weren't coming down to the chimney. I hope they will roost in the new chimney because it was built just for them. Swifts, you will love it!

Hey! I thought you said you had answered my query about looking for you. Where is it?
Anyway, I loved the time we had at the celebration tonight. It had been way too long.
Come sit on my patio and drink wine. We can talk about good things, like books.

That's cool that you have a space for the switfts. At our school, we only have places for meanness, competition, anxiety, and paranoia.

I predict: Tuesday will be a good day. You will find a surprise waiting for you when you get home.

KC: If I had your snail mail address, I would send you a book to offset the sadness permeating your school and trying to get into your heart.

Thanks D. I don't know what happened to that comment I wrote.
It was a blast chatting with you last night. Just what I needed.

I have been pretty sad at school too Kace. Lots of wailing and gnashing of teeth. I'm at school right now, ready to have the time of my life punching data in to a chart. WOOHOO!

Here's something that will cheer us all. I read a 2nd grade peep's office referral up in a mailbox just now:

"On the bus, PEEP flipped several peeps off and laughed about it. Later, at school, PEEP grabbed a classmate's arm and slapped her in the face."

Why is this so funny to me?

Regarding the "funny" peep: Don't you often wish you could do the same things?

I think referrals are hilarious because you actually have to write down the ridiculous behavior. I don't do them anymore, but i used to write them when i taught eighth grade. "Jordan called the teacher a 'f*^king bitch,' and then stormed out of the room yelling, 'I hate you, bitch. I hate you, bitch.'"

"Carl crawled under his desk and yelled, 'piss f*^k, piss f&^k,' over and over again."

D, that is so nice of you to have the impulse to send me a book.

Guess what? I decided that on Monday, I'm going to go back to having the best year ever. Just wait. It's going to be awesome.

I feel for all of you dealing with school system stresses on top of regular stresses. Stressors here at the U as well. I'm in my "I'll never have enough money to retire" phase at present, which is one of my more depressing phases. I want to have an FOTD on Friday but it looks like rain and cool AGAIN. Maybe I should have an SOTD the next night? I am missing you all and missing some laid back time drinking and comparing angst.

Jules, Once summer gets here I'll be doing some serious hostessing.

I know it will be hot, but we can have friday in the air conditioning.

I miss you a LOT!
