The Helmet

I'm wrestling with the whole bike helmet safety issue. I've not been using the helmet of late while bike riding. I know this is all wrong, and I'm going to change, but one more ride with no helmet is what I always say. And then I ride along, wind rustling over my skull. I'm living on the edge and I've got to shape up.
p.s. Happy Anniversary to Husbandman. 21 years. ooohlala.

Hey-What about an Oliver Winery date? I saw Ms. Long, and she thinks its a good idea too. Shall we plan a FATW (Friday at the Winery)? Really, it could even be a MATW or a TATW for that matter. What do you say? I think picnic-ing out there could be F-U-N.

Okay, the helmet was worn yesterday and it really wasn't that bad. I missed the rustling wind of course, but I knew it was the right thing to do.

winery...yes. I never get to go there, and that's been ticking me off.

Congrats on your anniversary!

Olivery Winery? My mom just went there last weekend while she was in Franklin dealing with some minor flooding issues in my parents' retirement townhome. I was jealous...about the winery visit, not the flooding issues.
Keep the wind in your hair! Bike helmets don't seem to work, check http://www.bmj.com/cgi/content/full/332/7543/722-a, or http://www.cyclehelmets.org. I stopped using my helmet a long time ago.

I would like to comment on the "helmets don't work" issue. Having had an incredibly minor bike wreck at slowish speed, but one in which I was thrown over the bike and landed on my head, I dispute this claim. My high-quality, tough-as-nails helmet was cracked through, yet my skull remained intact. If I had not had my helmet on, I would've suffered a major concussion or skull crackage. I think that speaks volumes. Wear the helmet friend!! A man veered towards me on my bike the other day to avoid driving his fancy convertible through a patch of mulberries on the road. Human life is of little importance to many drivers.
