Blogging Challenge #8: Common Assessment

Tonight I had a meeting with the Splendid Second Grade teachers.  We talked about their common assessment that has to be given tomorrow.  The teachers were talking about how they wish our assessments could have more illustrations to support struggling readers.  Happy to tell you all that I
took some photos from the text with photo booth, edited them with iPhoto, and then inserted them into a text for a test the second graders are sure to love.  Rocking the technology in Common Assessment Land!

Amazing! Above and beyond the call of duty. I think I'm going to write a teaching story today, too.

See!?!? This is why this challenge is unfair. Nobody cares about the stupid memo I wrote today using Microsoft Word. I don't even use PowerPoint. My job is completely low-tech. This disappoints me.

Still, though, it's good that you work so hard at your job. I forget sometimes that I only know really hard-working and dedicated educators and that not everyone is like all y'all. It's too bad, really. I think we'd be better off if they were.

Love seeing all the cool things you techies are doing in the blog challenge, but feel so out of it as I have no desire to fiddle with computers that hardly do the minimum I ask of them! How the heck are you, friend?! Need to catch up from NCTE and holidays! Can't believe I didn't even see Ros to hug her-wah! Call me.

Nance, Missing you a lot. I'm beginning to re-enter society. Stay tuned for more friendship to come.

Thanks for the comp, dw. I also think it's good that I work hard. When people don't want to work hard, I think they're really odd.

Thanks mm and kc.

Wasn't that a short and sweet thing for you to do. I have a little second-grader at home and it makes me all emotional thinking about someone creating a quick little picture for her to get help with her assessment. It's a little more work for you, but means so much to those precious little ones. Awwww.

LH,

Putting the tech in teacher.

You've been pulling off some amazing educator moves since 1999, as far as I can tell. I assure you the hard work is worth it!

The next time I barge into your home, I hope you're there to greet me!

Bravo!! Hooray for you! What a great idea.
(I never thought of using Photobooth for anything but faces.)

While I don't have any media to embed, I do have to ask a question: did y'all get the birthday package?
