The Intentions

My dad and my big brother came up this weekend. They visited us on their way back from watching a football game in South Bend. We loved having them here. Lots of good chat and chuckling. Now we move back in to the fray. The moving finger writes and having writ moves on.

Let’s not worry about what tomorrow will amass
Fill my cup again, this night will pass, alas.

Yesterday I helped 3rd graders write Halloween Haiku.
I liked this one:

My mask is scary.
Purple blood flows down my face
I can't breathe in here!

D, I'm probably going to have to keep those filling the cup lines in memory! You may regret telling them to me as you'll probably hear them quite a few times in future!

love that haiku. Cuts to the essence of the halloween mask. I can instantly call up that moist, hot feeling of breathing inside a piece of rigid plastic with tiny little air holes.
