Story Premise #5: Jean's Demons

 

Jean is a workaholic.  Her husband takes care of the household for the most part, in addition to working at his own challenging job.  When Jean's husband has an accident and has to have a hip replacement surgery,  Jean's life goes to hell in a hand basket.  Now making lunches for herself and her husband, picking up groceries, and tending to laundry, she is forced to let elements of her job falter.  She starts dialing it in and slacking off.  The slacking isn't noticed at her job.  No one seems to care in the least.  Jean is filled with anger toward her husband.  If he hadn't done all this stuff for her over the years, maybe she would have spent less of her life obsessed with her job and maybe she could have pursued more leisure activities. She could have developed a musical talent or hosted a literary salon.  As her husband slowly recovers, Jean descends into a crippling struggle with her own demons.
