i have a cute sarong you could borrow. it has a purple pattern on it. but will you be wearing a swimsuit underneath??
I think the idea behind the sarong is using it as a skirt, a dress, a halter top, a turban, etc.
Really stretching the wardrobe.
i have one somewhere, but I'm not sure I'm feeling creative enough to bring it along.
Well, my friend, I actually do take a sarong on every trip, although I didn't know it was THE thing to do--it just always turned out to be useful. I have a silk one in an orange Indian print...it can be an elegant skirt, a beach blanket, a swimsuit cover, or a whole dress or chic blouse if you are clever with knots (which I am not). A sarong takes up very little room and packs completely flat. Shall we whip you out a sarong on Friday or Saturday? It's a square piece of cloth, hemmed. Tres facile.

I think I'll just go the pants and shirt route. It's worked in the past.
I'm making some packing headway.
now I'm running out to buy a stylish rain coat.

The other great thing about a sarong is that you can make the joke over and over about how something is "Just sa-wrong!" while wearing it. This seems like something the family would really enjoy.
or, when leaving others, I can say (or sing), "SA-rong, it's been good to know ya!"
there are some real possibilities here.
