Well, we had an absolutely splendid afternoon at the park, with our celebrity readers and our cool little kid listeners. Good Pal Menosky read about Dumpy LaRue, a porker with passion. Much fun. Thanks, GPM!
Our celebration was prompted by some higher test scores from last spring's test, but GPM and I focused on all the great reading and writing we're doing at our school. It was time to have some fun.

I had a marvelous time. Everything was beautiful. Made my heart sing. It was actually one of the nicest community events I've ever seen here in B-town. Retired teachers along with IU faculty, administrators, coaches, and athletes, as well as MCCSC officials, etc., all having a wonderful time - with BOOKS and KIDS. Thank you for inviting me. (My book was Dumpy LaRue: The Pig Who Knew What He Wanted To Do. A winner for any age group. D/

One little first grader asked me, "How old are you?" "Eighty," I replied, "I could be your grandmother. She thought for a moment, and then said, "You could be my grandmother's grandmother." So true! D/

I just noticed that little person in the background this morning.
Makes me laugh.
