Some policy wonks have formed a task force called "Broader, Bolder Approach to Education." I like their emphasis on "physical and social wellness" in addition to academics. Additional counseling and health services would be helpful at the schoolsite. Kids with lice in their hair, or empty inhalers, or rotting teeth or broken glasses have a tough time learning much. The new task force proposes adding full service health clinics to schools. That would do so much for the peeps at our school. On another school note, I met with a gradstudent friend yesterday who wants to do a podcasting project in my room next year. I'm jazzed about this.
