The Lotus
Another lotus has come and gone. The music this year was phenomenally unusual. The Black Sufis breaking melons on their heads, Jake Shimabukuro's blurry fingers on his electrified ukulele, the Balkan Beatboxers hanging from the tent rafters, dancing to Funkadesi in the street. On and on I could go, but the point is that the Lotus Festival is weird and wonderful. Please plan to attend in 06.

Perhaps jdoc and I should plan an annual sojourn to Bloomington?!?!
Also, I think the twitch will go away soon. As soon as school is a routine and stuff. Never fear.
One reason Lotus is such a cool event is that even though there are 7 or 8 stages with music events at the same time, it's really managable--not hoards of people--just gleeful crowds going from venue to venue.
More than one of our international musical visitors said that Bloomington is one of the best places they've ever played or "the best." We love our world music here. Coastal people--there is at least one cool thing in flyover country--take the plunge in 06.
Julie, I'll find out the details about the chaiton and get back to you. with gratitude!, lh.
