The Defense
The Defense went well. I gave my chat, the committee asked questions. There were parts of the dissertation that some readers found "naggingly problematic," but overall, people seemed to like it, or at least find it interesting. I do not have to make revisions to the dissertation, and happy about this I truly am. I have a few clerical things to do before I can walk on my commencement date, but basically, stick a fork in it, I'm done. As I wrote in my acknowledgements, I could not have done it without this blog and its readers. You got me thru, peeps. Now we need to come up with a new subheading. Let me know what you think.

I was there!
Lee's presentation was wonderful. Many visitors took notes. And one reason why her defense lasted so long was because visitors, as well as committee members, wanted to ask questions and make comments. The folks who found "problems" were those who have their own agendas, and cannot always see what is going on with cutting edge work.
Lee was terrific when answering their questions and comments. And - even those who found problems, claimed her dissertation to be one of the best ever.
Her committee has asked for nothing more to be done to her dissertation. Unprecedented!
Lee was lauded as a super teacher, who is always caring, compassionate, inquiring, and learning,
Lee's work/dissertation should be read by all teachers. We were so very proud of her, and happy for her. Lee has given, and continues to give much to our profession.
Kudos!!
Perhaps the writing on the cake that Peter provided could be the new subheading. "The Doctor Is In."
And thanks Und. It's a great relief to be done. Now on to the paper work! My forte!
I have been thinking of new taglines for the blog, and I can't come up with anything. How about, "Now with a big fat Ph.D.?" I'm not sure if that would work, but it's the best I can do.
