The Departed

The Departed is a good movie. Matt Damon's great as a bad guy, Nicholson's eerily over the top and Leonardo is tormented and messed up . Don't delay; see it today. It's on the bloody side, just fyi.

I thought this movie was great. Yes, bloody as hell. Leonardo did a fine job.

I guess I will not see the latest Hollywood movie for the masses.

I have started a protest against all gross, violent movies. I see no reason for the bloody mess on the screen.

I figure I have lived enough of it and if my experience does not impress you, go to, inner- city Indianapolis, or talk to the Amish in Penn about Bloody, Violent America. I am sick of the presentation on screen. It obviously is not helping us look at our lives.

Get sick if you want to see blood, guts and gross. In the hospital I saw plenty of my own blood and guts when the doctor pulled the tube from my chest and slung juice across the walls of my hospital room. Or when the nurse got me out of bed and the tube fell out of my a%% and the mess on the floor is too much to describe. Or when the intern came in and yanked the wire out of my heart. I felt the wire travel through my chest, under my sternum out the other side of my body. The look on the interns face was priceless. I could luckily laugh at him as he walked out the door.

I think only beautiful, escape movies should be made in order to save our souls. Another option would be real life violent experiences for those who enjoy watching them. Maybe a tour to Iraq would help Hollywood find some other options beside blood and guts.

Clearly Opinionated,

Well, Mr. Clearly Opinionated, this is good to know. I have time to return the Boxed set of DePalma movies I got you for your birthday.
Speaking of opinions, are you going to NCTE OR NOT???

I have to say I'm not a fan of blood in movies myself. I can deal with the blood if it is surrounded and overcome by much beauty (i.e. The Last Samurai) or a really important story (i.e. Hotel Ruwanda). Have any of you seen Little Miss Sunshine?? I'm still a raving madwoman for that movie a month later.

I love Little Miss Sunshine as well. But I actually got sick to my stomach whenever the camera panned the room of those young girls all decked out. I'm hoping it was exaggerated for humor sake.

i want to see that movie, but i don't deal well with blood.

dan was making fun of me last night because i couldn't stand the gore in "heroes," and that's on prime time tv.

"you just don't understand how these images stick with me," i told him. he acted sympathetic, but i could tell he was still mocking me on the inside.

little miss sunshine...AWESOME.

I do shut my eyes when the blood is spurting out, but I like a good shoot em up from time to time.

I was a loyal viewer of ER the first couple of seasons. It was a character driven and about lives in the hospital. The night it started being about squirting blood around for effect I quit viewing. And now, I can proudly say, "I've not watched it since."

Once the blood and guts started it became wildly popular. What is up with that?

Hey Jeff, how do you feel about violence in popular media????

lol....

i have never been an er gal.

but what about the sopranos, that's a good show with its fair share of violence. i love it so.
(again, shutting of the eyes when necessary).

Are you watching The Office? No violence at all. But darned good.
