The Beginning
First day news. Teen Daughter's a freshman now and had a locker snafu, but other than that things went well. One teacher staged a dramatic eviction of a student that shook everyone up, but it was all a joke. After school she got this cool haircut. #1 son is a sixth grader and has performed imitations of his four teachers' introductions to our great amusement. I muddled through a long homeroom and 2 periods of language arts enjoying these big children. I wasn't quite on my game, but everyone seemed happy and relaxed. I told them they could pick their seats, but tonight I made a seating arrangement. Being too nice has too many drawbacks. Hope they're not overly disappointed and I also hope they don't think I lie regularly. Husbandman is not in school until next week so he's been singing Summer Time songs gloatingly this evening. Perhaps sensing our disgruntlement with his jollity, he volunteered to wash dishes for all of us this evening. It seemed only right.

Ros looks so great - love the hair! (Does she know that we MET at her age - gulp!). Very pleased to hear your stories as we attended the Kindergarten orientation last night and met Ms. Howard, the girl's first teacher. I should blog too, but from the parent point of view. Will I be a pain? Will the teacher like me? Do I really need to call her Ms. Howard????
Roz's hair is sooooo awesome. LOVE it. V. sophisticated.
Can't believe it was your first day! I think the seating chart is the way to go. I use one. So much easier to take attendance, for one.
Miss you!
The haircut is quite awesome...

The haircut still looks good days after the cutting. That's the sign of a good haircut I think. Thanks for coming by to check out the do.
The first week of school is over, seating arrangements were accepted graciously. I have a tendency to over think everything.
JC, I always think it's funny that the parents call me Ms. so and so even after I've told them to call me by the first name. I call my kids' teachers by their first names. Did she have the first day yet?
