Shalom really means 'peace'. Shalom as in greeting (goodbye) is a short version of 'shalom aleikha', meaning 'peace for you'.

I hope you enjoy your time in Turkey! It was one of Alison's favorite places when she was in Europe. I just saw Q. and D. and they're both doing well! (thought you'd like to hear that!)
